Rep-tiles with woven horns
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper describes a simple geometric construction for the visualization of Alexander’s horned sphere as a selfsimilar fractal curve in the plane. The construction is based on a recursive rep-2 rectangle progression to a specified depth. Parameterized curve generation and rendering details are briefly discussed. r 2005 Elsevier Ltd. متن کامل16th century Persian tiles in dialogue with 21st century digital tiles in the Sadrian universe
This article brings together tiles of 16th century Persian architecture and 21st century digital tiles of moving image to explore new potentials beyond the perceived image. As minimal parts of a bigger image, they both appear still and motionless. However, Persian Islamic philosopher, Mulla Sadrā Shirazi’s (1571-1640) theory of ‘substantial motion’ (al-harakat a...
متن کاملWeave tile architecture construction strategy for DNA nanotechnology.
Architectural designs for DNA nanostructures typically fall within one of two broad categories: tile-based designs (assembled from chemically synthesized oligonucleotides) and origami designs (woven structures employing a biological scaffold strand and synthetic staple strands). Both previous designs typically contain many Holliday-type multi-arm junctions. Here we describe the design, implemen...
متن کاملNatural radioactivity in ceramic tiles and associated radiological hazards
Background: The natural radioactivity levels in ceramic tiles produced in Turkey were determined and the related radiological hazards were assessed. Materials and Methods: The natural radioactivity levels (226Ra, 232Th and 40K) in the ceramic tiles were measured using high-purity germanium detector system (HPGe) and the related radiological hazards were assessed by radium equivalent activity (R...
